Military Law Attorney

Helping military personnel and military spouses resolve their legal problems

Military law is a complicated area. If a lawyer has little or no familiarity with military law, the consequences for his client can be disastrous. At the law office of Freddy Ruiz, I have represented clients in the military justice system for over 22 years. As a former JAG officer, I have a thorough understanding of military procedure, rules, and regulations. I also know what motivates the other side in a military case and how they develop their case strategies. If you are in the military, and you face divorce or a discharge hearing, I can help. To discuss you legal options in more detail, contact me, Freddy Ruiz, for an initial consultation.

Practice Areas

Military Divorce

Divorce is difficult for anyone. For someone in the military, however, there is an added layer of complexity. Often, couples reside in different states. Before I take a divorce case, I save my clients' time and money. I determine the proper venue first. There are many aspects to a military divorce that simply do not exist for civilians. I know how state law, federal law, and tri services regulations overlap. I know how to conduct a military divorce without making any allegations or self-serving statements which, while they may be of no consequence to a civilian, may damage a clients' career.

Due Process Actions

I represent clients with military cases that involve:

  • Demotion hearings
  • Article 15
  • Adverse Administrative Actions
  • PEB hearings

Military Crimes

I defend clients with cases that involve:

  • Court martial
  • Discharge hearings

If you or a family member faces any of the above, having an experienced military attorney is absolutely essential. Seemingly simple mistakes, such as signing the wrong piece of paper could result in a loss privileges or ultimately reduce your retirement grade. Through careful review of all documents and papers and by effective negotiation, I can prevent that from happening. I will also zealously represent you in your hearings, ensuring you receive a fair and adequate hearing, no matter what the issue.
